The service team at Yu-Li Veterans Hospital has always worked to make this a place of hope and vitality. By combining the latest research in modern psychiatry with the resources and unique character of Yuli, we hope to develop a diverse, comprehensive psychiatric model. We are creating a therapeutic community in Yuli. We hope that our experience can benefit the whole of Taiwan and ultimately the rest of the world.
The construction of the psychiatric research building will further strengthen research capacities and make the hospital an important psychiatric research center in Taiwan and even in the world.
Over the past 50 years, Yu-Li Veterans Hospital has grown to become today’s sophisticated psychiatric teaching hospital. This evolution has been accompanied by pain, laughter, and countless veterans and psychiatric patients who have struggled to overcome their illnesses. The best footnote to this story comes from the mouth of one of our senior high school student volunteers:
The thing I find hardest to forget is the story of those old soldiers,
Although their homes were across the Taiwan Strait, they couldn’t go back.
Instead they found the warmth of their homeland here.
They make me want to use my energy to do something for this place.
Looking back, Yu-Li Veterans has upheld its human-centered philosophy and served the public with professional services. In the future, staff will continue to provide caring services, undertake innovative research, and bring hope to even more sick people. As a cornerstone in the battle to defend against illness, Yu-Li Veterans Hospital kindles the life-flame of hope!
